Description |
The print depicts a landscrape of trees, mountains and rocks surrounding a river. Two males and two females travelling along a dirt road.One of the males is walking with a log across his shoulder down the road, meanwhile the other male is carring a stick to attend to his carriage pulled by two cows on the road. The two females stop to have a conversation with a child lying down on the slope of the rock. Printed below image on the left side, "Drawn on the spot & painted by George Robertson". In the centre below the title "Dedicated to William Beckford Esq. of Somerley in Suffolk. By his most Obliged Servant. Published March 25th 1778 by John Boydell. Engraved in Cheapside London. John Boydell". On the right, "Engraved by Daniel Lerpiniere". A coat of arm is visible in the centre below the image. |
