Description |
Metal object with a hallow, rod shaped handle, and a flat, irregular shaped blade that has a hooked point. This type of machete originated in the 19th century and was manufactured in Europe and the United States and was specially used for harvesting of sugar cane as the hooked end of the blade made it easier to pick up the cane after it has been cut. These machetes were not only a farming tool but a weapon used in many uprisings during slavery. |
