Description |
Oval shaped container carved from a coconut with lid. The body has relief geometric lines, foliate motif of roses and palm trees, a flamingo and the old Jamaican Coat of Arms. The following words are written around the Coat of Arms, JAMAICA 1921, INDUS UTERQUE SERVIET UNI." The lid has a 5 tier handle in the center and floral and geometric motif on the entire lid and the four tier of the handle, the top of the handle is round and has three holes. The style of the flask is similar to the colonial bugbear coconut flask that originated in 18th century and were carved by European sailors who sailed to the East and West Indies. |
