Description |
A wooden badge shaped shield with coiled corner flares. A smaller, flattened raised wooden badge shaped shield is affixed to the center of the shield, with a flat oval silver plate fixed to it. Engraved on the metallic plate, is "CHALLENGE SHIELD FOR THE CHAMPION SCHOOL. ALL JAMAICA ART EXHIBITION presented by Sir Edward Denham Governor". Surrounding the raised wooden shield are 12 smaller silver plated badge shaped shield mounted to the shield. Each shield plate has the name of a different school, as well as a list of the years, each school has won with the earliest record being from St. Hilda's Diocesan High in 1938 and the last record from St. Andrew technical High School in 1970. The reverse side of the trophy has a demi-bullnose edge all the way around with a foldable ornate stand screwed to the center of the trophy's back. Sir Edward Denham served as governor of Jamaica from 1935 to 1938 and died May 31, 1938. |
