Description |
Rectangular body aqua green bottle with three sunken panels on the larger panel is embossed "LUNG TONIC" while on one of the small sides is "HULL" and the side parellel to it is "OWBRIDGE'S". Round shoulders, cylindrical neck with a square band lip finishing. The Owbridge's Lung Tonic was invented in 1874 by pharmacist Walter Owbridge who was born in 1844 and practiced as a pharmacist in Hull, England. It was a supposedly a cough syrup to remedy bronchitis asthma and consumption (tuberculosis). Possible ingredients: chloroform, honey and alcohol and was used up to the mid 1960's. |
