Description |
This figurine is an example of Jamaican craftsmanship. It is of a woman cradling child wearing a yellow headware and blouse and a pink and white skirt. The figurine is made by Things Jamaica Limited which established in 1968 by then Minister of Development and Welfare, Honourable Edward Seaga "to revive, develop and teach Jamaican handicraft". Training centres were established all over Jamaica for persons to learn various crafts taught by well experienced craftspersons. Crafts that were of a high quality would be marketed by Things Jamaica Limited and sold mainly in the tourist centres of the island.
