Description |
Silver object with removable bell shaped top that has small perforations with foliate motif and reeded edge that fits over a baluster shape body with a reeded shoulder and round foot with foliate motif. Hallmarks are engraved under the base of the object. Casters have been used since the 17th century to cast or sprinkle sugar over drinks and food through the perforated cover over the body that contains the sugar. This type of caster was probably used in the late 19th to the early 20th century and were usually a part of a set with pepper and salt casters. |
