Description |
Metal tubing that is curved/coiled with a small mouthpiece and a flared horn that is turned upwards at end. "Henry Potter & Co. Makers 38.38 West St. Charing t Road London" inscribed near large circular area. Henry Potter & Co: Samuel Potter (1772-1838) had retired from the Coldstream Guards after the Napoleonic Wars were over and started making fife, drums and bugles in 1817. His son Henry Potter (1810-1876) was well established in the firm by 1841. Many Victorian bugles were made by this firm. The company was active up to1950. Another son founded his own company George Potter & Co. at Aldershot. |
